Coelophysis
- Coelophysis was a lightly built dinosaur, between 6ft and 9ft in length, and less than a 3ft tall at the hips.
- Coelophysis means "hollow form"; the dinosaur was named that because it had hollow limb bones.
- Coelophysis probably caught live prey, and its teeth were suited for this purpose; blade-like with fine serrations on both sides, which, unlike human teeth, were being continually replaced throughout the animal's life.
- Coelophysis was the second dinosaur in space! A Coelophysis skull from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History was aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor when it took off on January 22, 1998. (A Maiasaura fossil had been taken into space a few years earlier).
