Brontosaurus
- Brontosaurus, meaning "thunder lizard", is actually another name for the Apatosaurus dinosaur.
- When some new fossils were discovered in 1879, the discoverer though that he had found a completely new species, and named the dinosaur Brontosaurus.
- It wasn't until 1903 that scientists realized that it was actually the same type of dinosaur that had already been named Apatosaurus. However, the name “Brontosaurus” has stayed with us, and though it is not scientifically correct, it is used more often than Apatosaurus by the general public.
